STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point Brewery kicked off their first ever night tour on May 16. The evening tours are held once a month and give fans of the award-winning beer a chance to see the brewery during off hours.
“We are trying to hit the crowd that works during the day that can’t come on our daily scheduled tours,” explained Kathy Kolton, Point Brewery human resources assistant. “We also show a little bit more of the different areas of the brewery at night, because there isn’t as much traffic in the brewery, so it’s a little easier to take people around.”
Guests get a chance to see the canning area and the quality lab, both generally restricted to the public. The event also invites different food vendors to each session, giving guests a chance to enjoy local food while sampling the brewery’s drinks.
“Last week was Chef C’s Munchie Mobile,” Kolton said. “For the next event, we are getting cheese and sausage trays from Feltz’s Dairy Store. We get to highlight what (other vendors) have to offer to the community as well, not just the brewery itself.”
Guests on the extended tour also get four free drinks, a souvenir glass and a case of beer or soda to take home. While the program is still in its infancy, Kolton has seen the public embrace the new “behind the scenes” sessions.
“There has been quite a bit of interest since we first posted the first tour,” she said. “Feedback has been great.”
