Pacelli softball advances to State Tournament

The Pacelli Catholic High School softball team earned a trip to the WIAA State Tournament for the third year in a row Thursday, May 30.
The fifth-ranked and top-seeded Cardinals (19-6) rolled to a 13-4 win over seventh-seeded Onalaska Luther in a WIAA Division 4 Sectional Final at Markesan Thursday night to advance to state.
Pacelli will play in the State Semifinals against second-ranked Mishicot (24-0) at Goodman Diamond in Madison at approximately 9 p.m. Thursday, June 6.
Along with the Cardinals, top-ranked and defending Division 4 State Champion Horicon (23-1) also moved on to state with a 7-1 win over Wisconsin Heights, while sixth-ranked Thorp (19-6) won 4-3 over Clayton/Turtle Lake, and second-ranked Mishicot (24-0) won 7-3 over Iola-Scandinavia.
Out of the four Division 4 teams that advanced to the State Tournament, Pacelli received the third seed and Mishicot is the second seed, while top-seeded Horicon will take on fourth-seeded Thorp in the other State Semifinal at 8 a.m. Friday, June 7.
