WIAA State Track Day 1 Update

Update from the first day of the WIAA State Track and Field Meet at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse Friday, May 31.
In the Girls Division 1 800 run, Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) freshman Roisin Willis set the state record as she won the State Title in 2:05.68.
That also broke the U.S. freshman record of 2:05.7 in the 800 that Willis set at the New Balance National Indoor Meet in New York City March 10.
Willis also teamed with senior Taylor Konczal, freshman Mallory Greenwood, and junior Maddie Hyland to post the top qualifying time in the 4×400 relay with 3:54.44, as the finals are set for Saturday, June 1.
In Division 3 boys, Rosholt High School senior Adam Rzentkowski won the State Title in the 3,200 run in 9:37.4, as he finished ahead of La Crosse Aquinas senior Ethan Gregg (9:45.08) and the defending State Champion in senior David Vannucchi of Onalaska Luther (9:51.55).
The Rosholt boys 4×800 relay team of senior Zach Lepak, junior Reese Anderson, sophomore Josh Zick and senior Cade Bowker finished ninth, while junior Matt Ross was 13th in the 3,200 run.
The Hornets enter the second day tied for fourth in the team standings with 10 points, while Webster leads with 16.
For the SPASH boys, the 4×800 relay team of junior Jake Lepak, freshman Zach Scharbarth, senior Blake Milkowski and senior Chad Franz placed fifth, while senior Gage Haack finished ninth in the discus, sophomore Colton Engle was 21st in the 110 hurdles, and sophomore Jake Bourget was 23rd in the 3,200 run.
For the SPASH girls, senior Renee Hinchcliffe was 14th in the preliminaries for the 100 hurdles and 14th in the 300 hurdles, while senior Gabby Johnson tied for 19th in the high jump and was 22nd in the long jump.
For the Division 3 boys, the Almond-Bancroft High School 4×200 relay team of junior Dylan Omernick, junior Jackson Beggs, senior Noah Kollock and junior Matt Lukas finished fourth in the preliminaries to advance to the finals Saturday.
Beggs was also 17th in the high jump, while Pacelli Catholic High School junior Luke Ferro finished 15th in the high jump.
For the Division 3 girls, Rosholt junior Jordan Zdroik placed sixth in the 3,200 run, while she teamed up with freshman McKenna Wierzba, junior Jenna Trzebiatowski and freshman Mckenzie Zimmerman to finish seventh in the 4×800 relay.
The Rosholt 4×400 relay team of senior Kenzie Stalter, Wierzba, Zimmerman and sophomore Amber Studzinski was 13th in the preliminaries Friday, while the Pacelli girls 4×800 relay team of sophomore Chrissy Barron, junior Katy Czerwinski, senior Grace Engebretson, and senior Grace Van Handel finished 14th in the preliminaries Friday.
Day 2 of the State Meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with Division 3 boys discus, with the running events due to start at 10 a.m.
