University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) men’s hockey head coach Tyler Krueger recently finalized his team’s schedule for the 2019-20 season.

The reigning NCAA Division III National Champions will play 14 home games at K.B. Willett Arena, including the season opener Friday, Nov. 1.

After finishing 29-0-2 last season and winning the National Title, the Pointers will open the season at home against St. Norbert in a rematch of last season’s National Quarterfinals.

UWSP will unveil its National Championship banner that evening, and then travel to play at St. Norbert the following night Saturday, Nov. 2.

The Pointers will host Gustavus Adolphus Nov. 8 and St. Thomas Nov. 9 before they embark on a season-long four game road trip. After a pair of games in Minnesota, the Pointers open conference play with road games at UW-River Falls and UW-Superior.

The longest homestand of the year begins with visits from Marian and Concordia (Wis.) on Nov. 29 and 30, while UWSP concludes the three-game homestand against conference foe UW-Stout Dec. 6.

The month of December concludes with a trip to northern Wisconsin to play new league opponent Northland College in Ashland Dec. 7, followed by a home-and-home against UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds come to town Dec. 13,  before the two teams face off in Eau Claire the following evening.

UWSP will start January with its final two nonconference games, as it is set to host Hamline (Minn.) Jan. 10 and Augsburg (Minn.) Jan. 11. After 11 days off, the Pointers return at Eau Claire Jan. 22 to close out the three-game season series.

Five of the final eight games of the regular season will be at home. River Falls visits K.B. Willett Arena for two games Jan. 24 and 25, while Superior is in town Feb. 1, before the Pointers close out the regular season with a pair of home contests against Northland.

Following the regular season, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament will be held the weekends of Feb 21 and 22, and Feb. 28 and 29, with the WIAC Tournament Championship Game Saturday, March 7.

The Pointers will look to return to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh consecutive season, as the first round is set for March 14, with the National Quarterfinals March 21, and the Frozen Four March 27 and 28 in Buffalo, N.Y.

With its program record 31-game unbeaten streak intact, UWSP returns six All-WIAC selections from last season, including WIAC Player of the Year and All-American goalie Connor Ryckman.

Season ticket sales and a full list of game-day promotions will be available via athletics.uwsp.edu later this summer.
