STEVENS POINT — An update to an earlier story, police have identified two individuals in Wednesday’s disturbance on Portage Street.
According to police, they have identified both the vehicle and persons involved in the disturbance. The incident is believed to have occurred inside of the vehicle between two known individuals. No abduction of any kind took place. No further information will be released at this time.
The original story is below:
According to a press release, on June 5, at approximately 9:16 PM, officers were sent to the area of Portage Street and Phillips Street on report of a possible abduction. Officers met with witnesses who heard a woman screaming “let me go”, “leave me alone” and “call 911”, coming from the area of 1800 block Portage Street.
Witnesses further state that they observed a white or grey colored four-door vehicle with loud exhaust and rust on bottom trim on the passenger side. This vehicle left the vicinity of the incident and had what appeared to be two male passengers.
Officers viewed security cameras from the UW-Stevens Point campus and did observe a vehicle consistent with the description provided. Although the camera footage shows the vehicle coming to a stop in the vicinity of the incident, no pedestrians were observed walking in the area.
At this time, and after observing security camera footage, the incident appears to be a disturbance which may have taken place within the vehicle in question and not an abduction within the 1800 block of Portage Street.
