The fifth-ranked Pacelli Catholic High School softball team had its postseason run come to an end in a late game at the WIAA State Tournament in Madison Thursday, June 6.

In the seventh and final game of the day at Goodman Diamond, the Cardinals hit the field minutes before the deadline that allowed their Division 4 State Semifinal to start Thursday at 10:10 p.m., instead of the team and their fans having to head home and return to Madison for an 8 a.m. game Friday, June 7.

Second-ranked Mishicot (25-0) scored four runs in the top of the first inning and went on to a 5-1 win over Pacelli (19-7) to advance to the WIAA Division 4 State Championship Game.

Full coverage will appear in the June 14 issue of The Portage County Gazette.
