For the City Times

PORTAGE COUNTY — The Portage County Highway Department will begin the reconstruction on CTH Q (2nd Street and Main Street) in the Village of Amherst Junction starting Monday, June 10.  The project limits will be from approximately CTH KK to East Main Street.  The work will consist of removal of the existing pavement, removal and replacement of failing sidewalk, and paving new asphalt surface.  There will also be drainage improvements which include new culverts.

CTH Q will be closed to through traffic during construction and alternate routes will need to be used.  The Highway Department will be working with emergency management officials to maintain access for emergency vehicles at all times.  Access will be provided for residents and adjacent businesses but it may be restricted at certain times during the construction.

The Highway Department apologizes in advance for any inconvenience.  Due to the type of construction and limited access, all through traffic should utilize alternate routes for their safety as well as worker safety.  If you must travel through the work zone, please remember to slow down and be aware. If you have questions, please feel free to contact the Highway Department at 715-345-5230.  Project updates will also be posted on the Department’s website: http://www.co.portage.wi.us/highway/
