STEVENS POINT — Finance officials approved the purchase of 427 large garbage carts on Monday night.
The purchase comes due to a shortage of garbage carts due to a number of reasons. These reasons include damaged or stolen carts, the construction of new residential homes, and requests to move to a different size.
The total cost for 427 garbage carts will amount to $25,123.25 from the city’s contingency fund. According to the city, a sufficient amount of small garbage bins (65 carts) still remain.
This will have final approval at this month’s council.
