PLOVER – Shoppers at the Plover Walmart had a chance to beat the heat during the hot and humid summer weather on June 7-9.

Walmart began sending out its fleet of food and ice cream trucks across the country in 2017. A truck stopped at the Plover location to celebrate the store’s current remodeling project.

“Here’s the scoop; we’re remodeling your local Walmart,” read a post made on a Plover Walmart social media page, “and we’re celebrating with a free ice cream scoop for all, while supplies last.”

The vehicle was handing out free ice cream at the Wausau Walmart just a day before stopping in Plover to help locals cool off. Visitors are asked to complete a survey on their Walmart experience before receiving their complimentary treat. The Plover Walmart renovations are scheduled for completion in early August.

Store hours will not be affected by the remodeling.
