Local artist Arkansas bound for exhibition

For the City Times
EL DORADO, Ark. — SAAC (South Arkansas Arts Center, El Dorado, AR) recently announced the names of artists selected for their Annual Juried Art Competition. Among the 31 artists selected from across the country, there was only one from Wisconsin chosen: Silversmith, and local resident, Joan North.
Her work selected was “Icarus,” a silver, jasper, pearl necklace that hints at the mythical fateful flight of Icarus to the sun, with disastrous results. The show runs July 3 to 30.
North’s jewelry will also be on display from July 13 – September 8 at MOWA (Museum of Wisconsin Art, West Bend, WI) Spring Show.
Joan’s early jewelry education included workshops by internationally renowned instructors. Further study helped hone her skills and refine her own style that reflects upon life’s moments. She is a full time, award-winning silversmith whose jewelry is shown at galleries, museums and exhibits coast to coast, most recently in Arkansas, Wisconsin, California, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
North is represented by various galleries across the country. Find her online at JoanNorthDesigns, Facebook, and Instagram.
