The Central Wisconsin Racing Association Stars to Legends Tour, as presented by Smiley’s Old Time Diner, Super Late Model drivers will be make a stop at State Park Speedway in Wausau Thursday, June 27. It will be the first time in over a year that the tour is holding an event at the historic 1/4 mile asphalt speedway. The night also includes celebrating the life of Dave Lashua.

It will also be Wausau Noon Optimist kids night, as bike racing will be a featured attraction and the first 100 kids through the gate will receive free ice cream.

A field of over 20 stock car racing machines is expected to participate on the night, and one of the top contenders will be area star Mark Mackesy of Wausau. Mackesy has already captured two main events on the Tour in 2019 and he’d like nothing better than to win at his home track.

He’ll have to contend with Tour point leader Jeff Weinfurter of Wisconsin Rapids, who also has a tour win in 2019.

Harley Jankowski of Sparta, hot off a win in the last Tour race at Golden Sands Speedway, is the top Rookie driver on Tour this year, and currently is third in the point standings. Also looking to contend will be Chad Butz of Green Bay, Darek Gress of Neillsville, Mike Reichenberger of Appleton, Frank Nitzke of Berlin and Derrick Van Dreel of Kellner,WI. Other local talent that will be on hand includes Rookie contenders Mitch Stankowski of Wausau and Dillon Mackesy of Wausau, as well as Travis Volm of Mosinee.

The night of racing will be capped off with two 30 lap CWRA Stars to Legends Tour Feature races, which is the normal format the group uses. Other divisions that will be racing with CWRA include Pure stocks, Mini stocks, and Mini Mods.

Pit gates at the track will open at 3:30 p.m. and fan gates open at 4:30 p.m., with qualifying set for 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

For more information go to the State Park Speedway website, their Facebook page or call the track at 715-212-9006. For information on CWRA go to cwra.co their Facebook page, or call 715-344-9072.
