Moon landing anniversary marked with event at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT — Mark the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the moon at a special planetarium and telescope viewing event at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point next month.
Held Tuesday, July 9, the event will begin at 7 p.m. with a program at the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium highlighting the Apollo 11 moon landing of astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.
At 9 p.m., the Science Building roof will be open for telescopic observations of the moon until 11 p.m. (weather permitting). The event is open to the public free of charge.
The planetarium is located on the second floor of the UW-Stevens Point Science Building at 2001 Fourth Ave., Stevens Point. Parking is available in Lot D behind the building and is free in all university lots after 7 p.m. and on weekends.
