Central Wisconsin Men’s Golf League ends first half

The first half of the season came to an end with play at Foxfire Golf Course in Waupaca Wednesday, June 19. A tough front nine for most teams turned into a pretty productive back nine, including the Hilltop Too team shooting a 17-under par on the final nine in the two net best-ball format.

In the Stricker Division, Midwest Hardware defeated Jordan Bar, the Hacker Backers edged Midwest Hardware, Point After/Cozy Kitchen beat Big Apple Bagels, and Hilltop Too defeated Rookies Sports Pub.

In the Kelly Division, Matero’s defeated Two Harps Pub, Hilltop Pub & Grill was the winner over Badger Heating/Rice’s Paint, and Partners Pub narrowly beat Backwoods Pub & Grill.

In the final standings for the first half of the season, Rookies Sports Pub won the Stricker Division followed by Midwest Hardware, Hilltop Too and Hacker Backers tied for third, Jordan Bar was fifth, and Point After/Cozy Kitchen and Big Apple Bagels rounded out the field.

In the Kelly Division, Matero’s was the champ with Hilltop Pub & Grill second, Two Harps Pub third, Partners Pub fourth, Badger Heating/Rice’s Paint fifth and Backwoods Pub and Grill sixth.

Top scores showed Tom Habel with an even par 70, Keith Ringberg 72, Doug Bruder and Jim Berg 73, Rory Suomi 74 and Ken Manske 77, while Rhody Mallick, Dan Parlier and Jim Brummer all shot 78; and Scott Frazier had a 79.

Low net scores came from Jeff Blankschien and Rory Suomi at 66. In at 67 were Terry Check, Doug Bruder, Keith Ringberg and Jim Berg. Tom Habel had a 68, Rhody Mallick 69 and Dan Parlier and Bob Prosch were at even par 70.
