McFarland officially fills the spot of retiring Judge Michael J. McKenna, who retired on April 12. City officials appointed McFarland by a 2-1 vote on May 20.
McFarland will be on the April 2020 ballot for Stevens Point municipal judge, and hopes the community will vote for him in the next election.
“This is the city I was born in and it’s the city I want to spend my life in, and being a municipal court judge will help me to serve the people who have helped me along the way,” said McFarland. “I couldn’t have a successful law practice without the support of my community and family. They’ve given me a lot and I look for ways to give back when I can.”
