ADRC seeks actors for promotional video

STEVENS POINT – The Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Portage County is searching for actors, or those interested in acting, who might be ideal for work on an upcoming promotional video.

“It is a piece for the Aging & Disability Resource Center, like a promotional video put on Facebook and YouTube, or if someone goes out speaking they could possibly show it,” explained Producer John D. Giles.

Giles is first searching for a lead character who would serve as the subject of the video story line.

“The first thing that I am trying to do is find the actor that I have (in mind) – it could be male or female,” added Giles, adding that he is looking for someone over the age of 60 or a younger individual that could be aged with make-up.

“Then, I could possibly do flashbacks with this story,” he explained. “It is about a grieving person who lost their spouse, and they have just kind of given up on life. Friends try to talk him or her into coming to the center; just come and try it.”

The basic premise of the story is that the grieving spouse refuses multiple attempts to get them to go to the center, but they eventually give in and enjoy their time at the center.

If the character resonates well with the ADRC board, Giles hopes to produce further videos making the lead role the central character in an ongoing series.

“I don’t really have the script, but I’ve got the story line, and a lot of the script I think would be about the character, finding a good character,” stated Giles.

In addition to the main character, Giles is also seeking other cast and crew to assist with the project.

“I am looking for someone that might want to direct, co-writers, people in production, and eventually we would need extras, other actors that may not have as big of a part,” Giles said.

Interested actors should send a photo and resume to Giles at [email protected] or the Lincoln Center, 1519 Water Street, Stevens Point, WI 54481. Others interested in assisting with the production may contact Giles as well.
