Highlights from the Plover Black Sox’ game at home against the Stevens Point Sixers Wednesday, July 3, as well as a postgame interview with Plover first baseman Jack Kelly and shortstop Brett Ehr.

The Black Sox scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning to break a 1-1 tie and take a 7-1 lead, and went into the top of the seventh with an 8-2 lead at Veterans Memorial Park in Plover.

The Sixers rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh to close within 8-5 and had the tying run on first base with the bases loaded and two outs, but Plover’s Kaden Roberts came on and got a strikeout to pick up the save in the Black Sox’ 8-5 win.

Complete coverage will be in next week’s issue of The Portage County Gazette.
