Area rugby players take first place in Midwest Regional Cup

A total of five Panther Rugby players were selected to represent the state on the Wisconsin All-Stars Team at the USA Rugby Midwest Regional Cup Tournament in Cottage Grove Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23.

Greta Turner-Zick, Ellie Villnow, Emily Mathys, Liberty Bowman and Rachel Placeway from the Panther Rugby club each competed for the Wisconsin All-Stars Team.

Both the Tier 1 and Tier 2 (freshman/sophomore) teams took first place in their divisions among teams from across the Midwest.

Any area girl in grades 9-12 can join the Panther Rugby Club at Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH). Practices start Aug. 12, and no experience is necessary.
