Spaar, Habel record low scores in Men’s Golf League

The Central Wisconsin Men’s Golf League headed to Waupaca for matches at Foxfire Golf Club Wednesday, July 3.

The low gross scores of one over par were recorded by Charlie Spaar and Tom Habel. Next at 72 was Jim Brummer, while Rory Suomi fired a 75; Dan Newhouse and Jay Nordland had 77s; Garry Curless, Jim Berg and Ken Manske recorded 78s; and Keith Ringberg and Scott Krueger had 79s.

Low net rounds came from Spaar at 65, Brummer and Suomi at 66, Jim Gruba and Todd Prutz at 67, Brian Wierzba at 68, and Newhouse and Habel at 69, while at even par 70 net were Curless, Scott Gile, Terry Check and Jeff Blankschien.

In team competition for the Stricker Division, Big Apple Bagels defeated Hacker Backers, Point After/Cozy Kitchen took down Jordan Bar and Rookies Sports Bar beat Jordan Bar.

In the Kelly Division, Hilltop Pub & Grill beat Badger Heating/Rice’s Paint, while Two Harps Pub knocked off Partners Pub.

Standings show Point After/Cozy Kitchen leading with six points in the Stricker Division, followed by Big Apple Bagels with four points. Midwest Hardware, Rookies Sports Bar and Hilltop Too all have 3.5-points, Jordan Bar has three points and Hacker Backers has two points.

In the Kelly Division, Hilltop Pub & Grill leads with 6.5 points, followed by Partners Pub and Two Harps with 4.5 points, Matero’s at four points, Backwoods Bar & Grill at one-half point and Badger Heating/Rice’s Paint at zero.

This week, the league will head to Iola to play at Glacier Wood Golf Course Wednesday, July 10.
