STEVENS POINT — Residents can celebrate Christmas in July in a very unique way this weekend.
On Saturday, July 13, Point Pub Crawls will host their “Christmas in July” pub crawl. The event will benefit the Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum, Stevens Point Downtown Alliance, and the Stevens Point Running of the Flag. According to event founder Steven Macherey, he feels the downtown square should be front and center for a good cause.
“I started Point Pub Crawls to highlight the bars and taverns of Downtown Stevens Point, because I feel like drinking culture has changed over the last 5-10 years and many people ignore the Square when it used to be the center of Nightlife in Point.” he said.
“If I can create something memorable and enjoyable, give people a reason to come downtown and have fun, everybody wins.” he added.
This ongoing event series will feature many themed pub crawls, all to benefit local non-profits. As for this weekend’s theme, the everlasting nostalgia of the holidays will hopefully appeal to many.
“I picked the Christmas in July theme because there’s something exciting about combining Hawaiian shirts and Santa hats and drinking that appeals to everyone,” said Macherey. “It’s a happy-go-lucky kind of carefree feeling that I want to offer to anyone who cares to join.”
Local businesses Bria Bella & Co. and Ruby Roasters have joined other in donating prizes for giveaways during the event. The pub crawl will run from 2-9PM, admission is $10, with a VIP purchase of $25. Tickets can be purchased at PointPubCrawls.com
