For the City Times

STEVENS POINT — Community TV Channel 984 on Charter Spectrum Cable TV is Stevens Point’s Government and Public Access TV Channel. Once known as “CA-3,” Community TV has been serving Stevens Point for nearly 40 years.

As a Government Access TV Channel, Community TV cablecasts local government meetings including City Council, City Plan Commission, Park Board, Police & Fire Commission, Bicycle / Pedestrian Street Safety Commission, Historic Preservation & Design Review Commission, Redevelopment Authority, Finance Committee, Personnel Committee, Public Protection Committee, Board of Public Works, and County Board of Supervisors meetings.

Community TV also cablecasts special presentations such as the Community Conversations on the Future of Downtown and the Division St. Corridor, and informational meetings about potential or upcoming road construction projects. They also televise League of Women Voters Candidates Forums, and “Talking Point with Mayor Wiza” featuring the Mayor and special guests discussing government projects and community organizations and activities.

As a Public Access TV Channel, Community TV Channel 984 allows residents of the Stevens Point area to cablecast their own TV programs free of charge. Some of the programs televised weekly are the Audubon Almanac, Lights Camera Polka, Capitol City Band, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Services, Trinity Lutheran Church Services, and the long-time community favorite – Pets & Personalities on Parade.

When there is not a local program playing, the Community TV Bulletin Board presents meeting announcements, information about local community services, a Community Calendar of Events, weather forecasts, news, and great music.

But whether or not you are a Charter Spectrum Cable TV Subscriber, there are several other ways you can watch or listen to Stevens Point Community TV programs.

Government meetings, government information programs, Talking Point with Mayor Wiza, and some special events are archived on the City’s Website at StevensPoint.com/Videos, and on the City’s YouTube Channel at StevensPoint.com/YouTube.

Government Meetings can also be heard on the City’s Low Power FM radio station, 105.9 FM WSNP-LP.

Finally, all of the programs playing on Community TV Channel 984 – both Government and Public Access programs – can also be seen in real time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on their Live Stream at StevensPoint.com/TVLive.

Whether you live, work, or just play in Stevens Point, there is something on Community TV for you, so tune in to Charter Spectrum Channel 984, 105.9 FM, StevensPoint.com/Videos, StevensPoint.com/YouTube, or StevensPoint.com/TVLive.
