Point, Plover Junior Legion teams look to earn a trip to state this weekend

The Junior Legion Baseball teams for the Plover Black Sox and Stevens Point Sixers will compete for a spot in the 17 and Under State Tournament, when they play in the Region 1 Regional in Nekoosa.

The double-elimination tournament will take place Friday through Monday, July 12-15 at Holland Field in Nekoosa, with a trip to the State Tournament in Marshfield July 19-23 on the line.

After finishing as the State Runner-up last season, the Junior Black Sox are off to a 26-2 start this summer, and will open in the first game of the Regional against Antigo at 11 a.m. Friday.

The Junior Sixers (9-5) are set to open against Holmen at 4 p.m. Friday.

The seven-team Regional will conclude with the Championship at 4 p.m. Monday, with a second Championship Game at 6:30 p.m. if necessary.

Game 1: Antigo vs. Plover, 11 a.m.

Game 2: Wausau vs. Marshfield, 1:30 p.m.

Game 3: Holmen vs. Stevens Point, 4 p.m.

Game 4: Winner Game 2 vs. Wisconsin Rapids, 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 13

Game 5: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 3, 11 a.m.

Game 6: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 3, 1:30 p.m.

Game 7: Loser Game 2 vs. Winner Game 5, 4 p.m.

Game 8: Loser Game 4 vs. Loser Game 6, 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 14

Game 9: Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 6, 11 a.m.

*Game 10: Winner Game 7 vs. Loser Game 9, 1:30 p.m.

Game 11: Winner Game 8 vs. Winner Game 9, 4 p.m.

Monday, July 15

**Game 12: Winner Game 10 vs. Winner Game 11, 4 p.m.

Game 13: Winner Game 12 vs. Loser Game 12, 6:30 p.m. (if necessary)

*Note: A total of 13 games will be needed if Winner Game 9 loses Game 11, or Winner Game 10 wins Game 12

**Note: If three teams remain after Game 11, the last team to lose will receive a bye.
