City release: TDS Contractor Installing Fiber in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT — The city has released a notice of fiber optic construction from new internet and television provider, TDS.
TDS is a new Internet, television, & telephone service provider coming to Stevens Point. White Construction is their contractor, and has crews working throughout the city. They are putting out informational door hangers on residences in some areas.
The door hangers provide information about the installation of underground fiber optic cable. TDS or its contractor will be informing residents that public utilities will be marked on their property, and will be asking the residents to mark any private buried utilities. If a resident has private utilities (dog fence, private power, irrigation, etc.) they should mark their systems and then call the construction hotline at 1-855-259-8576.
Once the door hangers are distributed, the public utilities will likely be marked within one week, and the contractor should be there within 2 weeks to do the installation. In some areas, the fiber will be installed on existing power poles and residents in those areas will not see the door hanger regarding private utilities but may still see workers in their area.
