Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) class announced

STEVENS POINT — The Portage County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) Class.
This class is taught by Sheriff’s deputies who are certified Department of Justice Firearm Instructors. This class is the actual Department of Justice CCW class developed for the CCW permit application. This class will be held on Saturday October 5, 2019 from 8AM to noon at the Portage County Annex, rooms 1 and 2.
The cost of the class is $40 per student.
The deputies will also be offering a basic handgun course from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Portage County Law Enforcement Range located at 3001 Willow Springs Drive, Stevens Point, WI 54482 (Town of Dewey). Topics for this class include shooting stance, grip, sight picture, loading, unloading, malfunctions, and firing. Students will need to bring a firearm and approx. 50 rounds of ammunition for their firearm.
The cost for this course is $40 per student.
Students taking both the CCW and Basic Handgun Course will be charged a total of $60 per student for both classes.
