Highlights from the Regional Tournament opener between the Stevens Point Sixers and Plover Black Sox, as well as postgame interviews with Plover pitchers Dylan Davis and Austin Beyer, and Stevens Point shortstop Justin Morton and pitcher JD Schultz.

On the first day of the AAA Region 2 Regional Tournament at Bukolt Park, Plover won 4-2 over Stevens Point in the double-elimination tournament Friday, July 19.

The Black Sox (28-11) carried a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning, where the Sixers (17-9) loaded the bases with two outs, when a fielder’s choice groundout to third base closed out Plover’s win.

Beyer struck out four, walked three and allowed one earned run on two hits for the win, while Davis struck out one, walked one and allowed two hits in the seventh inning, as he recorded the save.

Morton had one of Point’s four hits, while Schultz finished with a double and two RBI at the plate, and allowed one earned run on six hits, struck out four and walked two over four and 1/3 innings of relief.
