The top-ranked Plover Black Sox American Legion Baseball team won its fourth consecutive Central Wisconsin Classic Title. Eric Zelhofer went 5-for-5 with a double and six RBI in a 14-7 win over fourth-ranked Janesville, Alex Lee had a complete-game victory in a 7-4 win over Chippewa Falls, and Nick Lillienthal pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout in an 8-0 win over Marquette (Mich). Plover followed with a 12-0 victory in five innings over Janesville in the Tournament Semifinals, as manager Wayne Sankey recorded his 400th career Legion coaching victory, and Tyler Nalbach picked up a complete-game win in a 12-3 victory over Chippewa Falls in the Championship Game.

With the lead in the Wisconsin Valley Legion League (WVLL) on the line, the Plover Black Sox rallied from a 9-7 deficit with seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat the rival Stevens Point Sixers 14-9 at Veterans Memorial Park in Plover. The teams combined to score 23 runs on 29 hits, as Paul Buchkowski had a double among his three hits, Bobby Gregorich had a double among his two hits, and Matt Busse had two hits to lead Plover. Steve Pratt had a double to go along with two hits and three RBI, and Adam Bartlett and Kevin Malnory each had three hits for Point. The Black Sox went on to win what was their second WVLL Title in a string of eight in a row from 2008 through 2015.
