STEVENS POINT — Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) has announced that they expect power to be restored to “95 percent of their customers” by tonight after last weekend’s power storms put thousands in the dark.
According to their website, power has been restored to more than 152,000 customers across the state. The impact of the storms have been some of the worst seen by WPS officials in decades.
While the number has shifted from thousands to hundreds in Stevens Point that do have power at this time, outage maps show that most parts of the the Plover-Whiting area are still without power.
WPS has been working around the clock since the outages. While power is expected to be restored for many by today, this excludes homes with severe weather damage.
