Boys & Girls Club travels to Washington D.C.

STEVENS POINT – Departing early morning on July 22, Boys & Girls Club of Portage County Teen Center began an all-expenses paid journey to Washington, D.C., funded by the Herb Kohl Education Foundation.
The trip, open to 40 seventh through 12 graders through an application process, allows youth an opportunity to visit the White House, World War II Memorial, Library of Congress and the Holocaust Memorial Museum. Participants learn about our country’s history, tour memorials, and have a chance to speak with Wisconsin State Senator Tammy Baldwin.
“We want young people to see history come alive, expand their horizons and imagine themselves as our future leaders, and most of all, be ready to take their place as responsible, productive citizens of this great nation,” said Herb Kohl.
Club teens returned July 26.
