New boxing gym opens in Stevens Point

For the City Times
STEVENS POINT- Professional Boxer Shawn Payne noticed a gap in Stevens Point when he moved to the area from Milwaukee — a boxing gym for everybody.
After completing his degree in Business Administration at Mid-State Technical College, he decided to fill that gap and opened SP Boxing.
“I enjoy teaching boxing and watching people improve with each workout.” said Payne, owner of SP Boxing.
SP Boxing offers boxing boot camp classes on Tuesday-Thursday; personal or small group training sessions with flexible scheduling and open gyms.
Workouts are 30 minutes of effective high-intensity interval training where participants deliver jabs, cross hooks, and uppercut combinations along with footwork to get a full body workout. Workouts change daily so you don’t get bored and are customized to your fitness level.
Payne states that SP Boxing is for everyone regardless of fitness level.
“People come to SP Boxing with different goals…some want to learn self-defense techniques; some people want to get in the best shape of their lives; others are looking for a different way to work out, and I have students who want to box at the amateur and professional level. I am here to work with people to help them reach their goals and customize a program and workout routine that works for their schedule and budget.”
SP Boxing is located at 3260 Church Street in Stevens Point.
