STEVENS POINT — Community Development Director Michael Ostrowski has been selected to be the next Assistant Director of Planning and Development Services for San Marcos, Texas.
Mayor Mike Wiza released a press release this afternoon regarding Ostrowski’s leave.
“This position will give me the opportunity to manage planning activities for one of the fastest growing areas of the country.” said Ostrowski.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed working for the City of Stevens Point for over the past nine years. I am proud of all of the accomplishments that my department has accomplished during my tenure, including major redevelopment projects, significant increases in new construction growth, receiving several grant awards, and creating the largest Certified Site in the State of Wisconsin. While I am proud of these projects, I will miss the staff that I will be regrettably leaving behind. The individuals within my department are some of the most dedicated and passionate individuals, and the City is blessed to have them.”
Ostrowski oversees the Community Development Department, as well as the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Stevens Point. He has been with the City of Stevens Point in his current role since 2010, and also previously served as the Mayoral Assistant under Mayor Wescott.
“I feel the City is headed in the right direction,” said Ostrowski. “Over the next two years, there will be several major development projects that will change the look and feel of this great community, especially within the downtown, the Division Street corridor, and within the business/industrial parks. While I am saddened that I will not be able to see the completion of them, I am confident that the staff within the department will be able to see them through to completion.”
A nationwide search will take place over the next few weeks as the City begins the process of finding a replacement.
“Director Ostrowski has been an invaluable asset to our community.,” said Mayor Mike Wiza. “He and his team have been directly responsible the above average growth we have seen and has been instrumental in many of the positive changes we have seen. We are sad to see him leave, but wish him and his family the best in all life has to offer.”
Ostrowski’s last day with the City will be August 21, 2019.
