Amherst Junction woman dies in fatal car crash

SHARON — A 54-year-old Amherst Junction woman is dead after a fatal car crash on early Sunday morning.
According to a Portage County Sheriff’s Department press release, on July 28 at approximately 1:44 a.m., the Portage County Communication Center was notified of a single vehicle crash near the address of 4556 CTH H N in the Town of Sharon.
The release states that a vehicle was traveling north on CTH J near Wilderness Drive when the operator crossed over the centerline, entered the west ditch and struck a driveway. The vehicle came to rest on the passenger side.
The male driver and his female passenger, both of Rosholt, are both 32-years-old. The second passenger, a 54-year-old Amherst Junction woman, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
In a Facebook post regarding the recently deceased, it was noted that she positively affected the lives of many around her. A Facebook post describes the victim as a “tremendous part of all of our lives”.
The other occupants were taken by ambulance to area hospitals with apparent non-life threatening injuries.
The accident is still under investigation. The Portage County Sheriff’s Office utilized their Technical Crash Investigation Team, and was also assisted by the Portage County Ambulance Service, Sharon EMS and the Rosholt Fire Department. CTH J was closed for about three hours.
The names of those involved is not being released at this time.
