Schulfer & Associates, LLC Wealth Management is excited to announce that their 9th annual Shredding Party was a great success, setting a few substantial milestones.  The cold, wind and occasional rain didn’t stop the community from coming out for this great cause.  $4,000 was raised during the three-hour event, which sets a record, surpassing last year’s donations for the shredding services by nearly $1,000!  Cumulatively, the nine shredding events have raised just over $24,600 for Pacelli Catholic Schools.

“We collected, destroyed and recycled 12,779 pounds of sensitive information this year.  Adding that to the 89,000 pounds previously collected, our 9-year cumulative total reached 101,779 pounds of documents!  In comparison, last year 11,435 pounds of documents were brought in”, said LouAnn Schulfer, co-owner of Schulfer & Associates.  Shredding services were provided by Express Recycling.

To keep with the theme of the event, “shredded” food was also sold, including shredded turkey sandwiches, shredded potato crisps, and shredded coleslaw.  Entertainment was provided by the Pacelli Catholic High School Pep Band.

“This year’s funds will be dedicated toward the purchase of a newer student activities van.  The 2 current vans are aging and are ready to be replaced”, added Schulfer.

The spring-cleaning shredding party allows individuals and businesses to bring sensitive recordkeeping documents to be collected, shredded, and recycled.  Donations are accepted for the service and 100% of the profits are dedicated toward a need that Pacelli Catholic Schools identifies.  Previous year’s donations have funded an upgraded security system for the front entrance of the high school, Library World, an online program to better organize the library system for all Pacelli schools, robotics kits for students at the middle school, materials for the then newly-implemented Singapore math program, new playground equipment for the pre-school children, as well as  various new technology equipment, among other projects.

“We’ve already been asked if we’ll do it again next year, and yes, we are thrilled to give back to Pacelli Schools, who’ve given so much to our community for nearly 150 years.  Next year’s Shredding Party will again be held at our office, at 1417 Main Street, Stevens Point, in mid-May”, said Schulfer.
