STEVENS POINT – An annual Stevens Point car and truck show has become a memorial to a club member that passed away in 2018.
“We have been doing this for the past 26 years; this would have been our 27th, but we are doing this show as a memorial for a fallen club member that we lost last year,” said co-organizer Barb Strong.
Jerry “Moose” Maslowski was a co-founder of the “Truckin’ Buddies” club – the group that hosts the car show each year. Maslowski passed away from a sudden heart attack on Aug. 30. As a tribute, the club will now host the annual show in his honor.
The “Cruisin’ Thru the Years Truck & Car Show” will be held Aug. 11, 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., at Pfiffner Pioneer Park, Stevens Point. Show entries include 2×2 and 4×4 trucks, as well as classic cars.
“We try to cover all years and classes of vehicles,” Strong explained. “We have first, second and third place trophies. At 12 noon, we have a Salute to our Veterans, which involves club members that are veterans carry the American flags around the park grounds (with) the DJ playing patriot songs. Awards (are) at 3:30 p.m.
“There are only 15 of us and it takes each one of us to put this show on. We have been helping non-profit organizations in the community. We have a huge raffle, muffler rap and in memory of Jerry, we are bringing back the Stereo Contest, which with the muffler rap, he took care of for 25 years.”
