For the City Times
STEVENS POINT — Here are the upcoming exhibits for the Lincoln Center art gallery, located at 1519 Water St.
Photography by Lawrence Schweitz
Through the month of August, Lawrence (Larry) Schweitz will display photographs from his travels and his many interests. Mr. Schweitz spent a great deal of his work life traveling and has always had a camera close at hand. He has been taking photographs since he was in grade school. The photographer took photo and printing courses at a junior college near Chicago while he worked there. He has worked with both digital and film. Larry Schweitz is retired from the transportation industry and has settled in Plover.
Basketry by Elise Thornton
Elise Thornton’s work is made of plant materials, some of which she gathers from the wild. In the last 10 years she has worked more with willow and birch bark. Most of her baskets are cultured willow grown for basket making. Ms. Thornton has been a basket maker for over 30 years and has been doing it full time since she retired eight years ago. She sells her work in galleries in the North Central part of Wisconsin and does a few art shows every year. She continues to take classes each year and is always interested in new techniques. Her work is for sale at Gallery Q in Stevens Point.
