For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS/STEVENS POINT – The following local volunteer opportunities are available at Heartland Hospice:

Memory Bear Makers

Heartland Hospice is looking for individuals to sew memory bears upon request. Memory bears are made from sentimental clothing that belonged to loved ones on our hospice services. The bears will be given to bereaved family members. Memory bear patterns are available, large and small.

Office Assistance

Heartland is also seeking administrative/office volunteers. Some activities include mailing cards, newsletters, various copying, assembling volunteer orientation manuals and in-service packets, inventory on hospice forms, filing, and assembling admission folders.

The office is located at 3233A Business Park Dr. No. 203, Stevens Point.

Veteran Volunteers

Heartland Hospice is in need of volunteers with a military background. Heartland’s Vet-to-Vet volunteer program is dedicated to providing quality care to patients and families in the community. Volunteers help improve the quality of patients’ lives through social interaction and companionship. Volunteers are matched with a veteran that is currently receiving hospice services that would like friendly visits and additional companionship from another veteran. Fellow veterans may be able to relate to the life experiences of the hospice patient and share stories to help enrich the patient’s life during those final months.

Friendly Visitors

Friendly Visitor volunteers spend time with individuals receiving Heartland Hospice services in surrounding communities. There are many individuals on hospice who love to read and are no longer able to. We are looking for volunteers to read to patients who are looking for a visitor. Visit schedule is set by the volunteer and is very flexible.

Contact 715-344-4541 for any of the Heartland Hospice volunteer opportunities.
