Stevens Point man arrested after threatening police

STEVENS POINT- On Aug 3, 2019, at approximately 5:56 PM, The Stevens Point Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 29-year old Male from Stevens Point. The traffic stop was the result of an investigation involving the male subject making specific threats of shooting law enforcement officers. Investigation did result in the recovery of an assault rifle, ammunition and a ballistic vest.
The male subject was operating, and the lone occupant, of the motor vehicle involved in the traffic stop. He was taken into custody without incident. He is currently detained at the Portage County Jail on a probation hold with anticipated charges to include Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
