City bees; City Forestry helps promote pollinators

For the Gazette
STEVENS POINT – The city of Stevens Point is helping to promote bees and other pollinators.
About three years ago, the Forestry Department planted a rain garden at Mead Park, at the Northeast corner of West Clark Street and West Whitney Street. With most of the flowers in full bloom now, and the bees are enjoying the site.
The city is also working with the Aldo Leopold Audubon Society, for grant funding from the American Transmission Company, to develop a wildflower prairie specifically geared toward pollinators. The pollinator garden will be located under the ATC transmission lines in Koziczkowski Park.
