PLOVER – A residential development in Plover could see a new neighborhood park.

On Aug. 7, village officials unanimously approved plans for the Arbor Haven Park master plan.

“As a result of pretty extensive residential development in the old Tree Acres area, known as TIF No. 5, we are looking at adding a neighborhood park in that area,” said Village Community Development Administrator Ryan Kernosky, “more or less on the corner of Pleasant Drive and Arbor Haven Way.”

Village staff noted that the new development is not intended as a community-wide space, but rather a smaller, neighborhood park. Park plans include a multi-use hard-surface court, covered pavilion with restrooms, and a 4,500 square-foot play area with a playground. A 10-stall parking lot is also planned for the project, accessible off of Pleasant Drive. Proposed plans retain many trees throughout the area to provide natural spaces.

The village is working with the Rettler Corporation on the project. Plans are still in the early phases for the roughly 1.5-acre park.  The total estimated price for the project is $490,000. Village staff is working with project developers to find funding sources for the potential park.

No targeted start date has been set.

490K wow! But wouldn’t it be nice if we could all donate time and trees and personal manpower to do this project in phases. It could produce a closer bond between neighbors in the area. Only in a perfect world. It would however be nice.
