STEVENS POINT – The Alzheimer’s Association will host its Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sept. 21 at UW-Stevens Point Multi-Activity Center (MAC).

More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease – the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 16 million family members and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Wisconsin alone, there are more than 110,000 people living with the disease and 195,000 caregivers.

“The money we raise for our Walks allows us to provide local care and support services to ease the burden on those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers,” said Laurie Shill, executive director of the Wisconsin Chapter. “It also fuels our public policy efforts and allows us to advance critical research towards finding a cure.”

Registration begins at 8 a.m. For more information, or to register, visit alz.org/walk.
