Nelson named to Wisconsin Women’s Council

MADISON — Nerissa Nelson, librarian and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP), has been named to the Wisconsin Women’s Council, as one of seven appointments announced by Governor Tony Evers on Aug. 14.
Nelson holds a Master of Arts Degree in Communication from UWSP, a Master of Arts Degree in Library and Information Studies from the UW-Madison, and an Arts Degree in Journalism from Columbia College. According to a Governor’s Office press release, Nelson has over “20 years experience in academic and corporate library settings” and is “active in shared governance and other service work.” She has been employed with UWSP since 2000. Nelson is also involved in non-profit arts and works as a ballet instructor. The Women’s Council’s mission is to identify barriers to women’s social and economic participation in the state and work with public and private-sector partners to develop initiatives and identify solutions and to disseminate information on the status of women and issues of concern to women in the state. Others appointed to the council with Nelson, include: Ze Yang, Madison, Governor’s Designee; Patty Cadorin, Milwaukee, vice president and senior advisor of BMO Harris Bank; Dr. Lisa Armaganian, Brookfield, cardiologist with Ascension Medical Group; Denise Gaumer Hutchison, Green Bay, communication and event production consultant; Alderwoman Chantia Lewis, Milwaukee; and Dr. Rosalyn McFarland, Brown Deer, family nurse practitioner, registered nurse, and the CEO and founder of MyNP Professionals Family Medical Clinic.
