PORTAGE COUNTY – Whether you’re a seasoned disc expert or it’s your first time stepping up to the tee, check out these Portage County disc golf courses before the summer ends

Yulga Disc Golf Course 4708 Chickadee Ln., Stevens Point

This 18-hole course features a world-class design, concrete tee pads and a scenic forest view. The free to play course offers players a challenging game with moderately wooded areas. Players can see a rough layout of each hole on signage posted adjacent to each tee. The course’s longest hole is an impressive 420 feet.

Standing Rocks Park 7522-7726 Standing Rocks Rd., Stevens Point

Standing Rocks Park offers players several different “loops” to disc through, featuring a total of 33 holes, according to Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) reports. The course was developed in 2000 and has since grown into a popular disc tournament location. Guests can buy a day pass, a season pass, or a family season pass.

McDill Disc Golf Course 3809 Patch St., Stevens Point

McDill Disc Golf Course gives players a chance to take in the scenic landscapes and views of the McDill area. This free nine-hole course sees players disc through open meadows, wooded areas, and up steep hills. This short yet challenging course is perfect for locals looking for a less time-consuming round.

Mead Park Disc Golf Course 1201 W Whitney St., Stevens Point

This course gives new players a chance to disc in a more open environment. Fewer trees mean fewer opportunities for your disc’s flight path to be cut short. The free nine-hole course follows the west bank of the beautiful Wisconsin River, giving players a chance to enjoy some of Stevens Point’s gorgeous landscapes while they disc.

These are just some of Portage County’s fantastic outdoor recreation areas. What are your outdoor plans before summer ends? Share your summer activities with the community on the Gazette’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/pcgazette/.
