Russell Robert Reed, 52, of Mankato, MN, passed away suddenly on July 1, 2019, in Marshfield, due to a recently discovered brain tumor.

Russ was born and raised in Stevens Point. After graduating from high school in 1985, he attended Mankato State University in Mankato, MN, graduating in 1990 with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering technology.  He also acquired certification in network administration in 2001 from South Central College.

Russ had retired in February 2019 from Windings, INC, where he was a longtime employee. He was active in the bicycling community by participating as a board member of the Mankato Area Mountain Bike organization and a volunteer on the board of Greater Mankato Bike and Walk Advocates.  He also volunteered his time at Key City Bike, helping to repair and build bikes for the community.

Russ is survived by his wife, Sheryl ; daughter, Renee (Kale) Karstens; parents, William and Barbara Reed; sister, Jennifer (Scott) Schermerhorn;  nieces, Samantha and Sydney; father/mother-in-law, William and Betty Berg; sister/brother-in-law, Luann and Steve Hoogestraat; and nephews, Kyle and Justin.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth; grandparents; aunts; and uncles.

A memorial visitation will be held July 9.
