It all comes down to the final CWRA Stars to Legends Tour race at Golden Sands Speedway in Plover Friday, Aug. 23. After a 10-race season, the finale at the 1/3 mile, super-fast, high-banked oval will crown a Champion for 2019.

Jeff Weinfurter of Wisconsin Rapids has a sizeable lead in the standings, but there is an outside chance he could be caught with an extraordinary performance by the second and third place drivers, Chad Butz of Green Bay and Mark Mackesy of Wausau, and some bad luck by Weinfurter.

Weinfurter is coming off a two Feature race win night at Marshfield Motor Speedway last Saturday, Aug. 17, which increased his point lead, but he would like nothing better than to finish off the season with at least one win, and maybe two,  if he wins both 30 lap Feature races scheduled for the night.

Others that are certain to be in the thick of the battle racing include the top Rookie driver in 2019, Harley Jankowski of Sparta, who also won a Feature at the track in the last CWRA appearance. Darek Gress of Neillsville will be a contender as well, having won main events the last two seasons on the CWRA Tour.

Travis Volm of Mosinee, another Rookie driver on the Tour, will be in contention for a win as well. Volm had a streak of winning three main events in a two-week span, having found additional speed in his race car here toward the end of the season.

Other Divisions competing on the night include Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and Modifieds.

Fan Gates during the night open at 5 p.m., with qualifying to follow and racing starting at 7:45 p.m.

Golden Sands Speedway is located six miles west of Plover and seven miles east of Wisconsin Rapids on Highway 54.

Track phone is 715-423-4660. Additional information on CWRA can be found at cwra.co or on their Facebook page.
