For the City Times

STEVENS POINT – Registration is open for Active Portage County’s fifth annual Hard Rocks Hiking Challenge, to be held Sept. 28 at Standing Rocks County Park, 7695 Standing Rocks Rd., Stevens Point.

“Standing Rocks is one of central Wisconsin’s best kept secrets,” said John Jury, Active Portage County board member.  “Many people think that Portage County is flat, and it is for the most part, but Standing Rocks is quite hilly – which provides a perfect backdrop for this challenge.”

Participants can choose from three distance options – 8k (5.2 miles), 13k (8.2 miles) or 16k (10 miles). There will be rest/nature stops along the way, and a pancake brunch at the finish line.

For more information and on-line registration, visit ActivePortageCounty.com or call 715-344-2556.
