Feltz’s and Culver’s produce nine-acre maze for farming

STEVENS POINT – Feltz’s Dairy Store and Culver’s have teamed up to produce a nine-acre corn maze in recognition of agriculture and the fall harvest season.

The project is part of Culver’s ongoing “Thank You Farmers Project,” which began in 2013.

“In addition to showing gratitude for hardworking farm families, the initiative works to ensure our future food supply by supporting agricultural education,” said Alison Wedig, marketing specialist for Culver’s. “Through the Thank You Farmers Project, we and our guests have donated over $2 million to agricultural education programs, like FFA. In fact, we’ll be doing a fundraiser at the maze on Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors to the maze can purchase a scoop of Fresh Frozen Custard for $1, then that dollar will be donated to the Stevens Point FFA Chapter.”

Wedig said that through the project, Culver’s has worked on corn mazes since 2014. For the 2019 Stevens Point area maze, they are working with Feltz’s Dairy Store, which Wedig said was a perfect fit.

“Each year, we look for new mazes to invite to participate. Feltz’s Dairy Store was a perfect fit for the program,” she explained. “Not only is it located in Culver’s home state, but the Feltz’s also share our passion for agricultural education in the way that they invite the public to their farm and store to enjoy Wisconsin dairy and learn about farming.”

Feltz Family Farms is a fifth-generation dairy farm. In June 2017, the family opened at store offering dairy products, agricultural items, and local specialty goods.

The farm offers a regular maze, which runs until Oct 20, Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“We also have other activities on Saturdays – generally 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – which include a bounce house, barrel train rides, small animal petting zoo, hay bale maze for the kids and a pick-your-own pumpkin patch and pre-picked pumpkins,” said Jake Feltz of Feltz’s Dairy Store.

They also offer a Haunted Corn Maze Oct. 25-26, 7:30-10:30 p.m.

“The Haunted Corn Maze is targeted at ages 13 and up,” added Feltz. “We send in groups of 8-12 people at a time to run through the maze and encounter various terrifying scenes as well as random jump-out scares throughout. It should take between 30-45 minutes to complete.”

 A fall festival will also be held Oct. 5, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

The grounds are located at 5796 Porter Drive, Stevens Point. For more information, visit www.feltzsdairystore.com/copy-of-corn-maze.
