Janette (Mittelstaedt) Lange passed away peacefully at her current home in Amherst Junction on September 15, 2019. Janette, soon to be 95, was born October 17, 1924 in Reedsburg, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart G. Lange (2012) and infant son Dennis (1946), her parents Charles and Minna Mittelstaedt, five sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by her two daughters, LeAnn (Peter) Chase and Karen Lange of Amherst Junction and one sister, Ruth Mahling of Madison.

Janette and Stuart grew up as neighbors in the Reedsburg area. Stuart joined the Army Air Corps (later to be renamed the Air Force) and was stationed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where Stuart and Janette were married in 1943. Stuart spent 22 years in the Service. As a result, Janette and Stuart traveled the world and the United States. Upon Stuart’s retirement in 1964 the family moved back to Wisconsin and settled in Fond du Lac, where Stuart began a second career in private industry. Upon Stuart’s second retirement, the family moved to Wausaukee, where Stuart and Janette reclaimed their rural heritage and became hobby farmers. They followed their passion for gardening and were known to share produce with neighbors and friends. They loved the community and their retired life together.

Janette and sister Ruth followed a second passion, that of quilting. Together they designed and hand stitched approximately twenty heirloom quilts as gifts to most Mittelstaedt nieces and nephews. Many of the quilts were shown at the local county fair and won prizes. The quilts will cherished remembrances of the two Aunts.

Janette will be greatly missed by family and friends. Our prayers are with her always.
