Annual Purple Ribbon Walk to honor victims of domestic violence

For the City Times
MADISON – Three domestic violence memorial walks will take place Sept. 30 at 11:55 a.m. in Madison, Milwaukee, and Stevens Point.
The Purple Ribbon Walk, which was first organized in 2007 by Zonta Club of Madison, is a silent vigil to recognize the yearly number of domestic abuse homicide victims in Wisconsin. In 2018, 47 victims were killed in domestic violence incidents. A number of civic leaders are expected to join community members in honoring the lives lost to domestic violence in 2018.
The Fourth Annual Purple Ribbon Walk in Stevens Point will begin outside the Portage County Courthouse on Arlington Avenue and Church Street.
