City approves Kernosky as CDD

STEVENS POINT – City leaders officially approved Ryan Kernosky’s appointment as community development director (CDD) during as special common council meeting on Sept. 30.
Kernosky is currently the CDD for the village of Plover. The village requires a 30-day notice of separation, putting Kernosky’s start date in Stevens Point at the end of October. Kernosky started as Plover’s CDD in January 2019 and has assisted on village projects like the SolSmart Initiative and the Lake Pacawa developments.
Council member Mike Phillips first moved the approval. Council member Meleesa Johnson said she is excited to see Kernosky come aboard. “I think he’ll do us proud,” Johnson stated.
Kernosky was not in attendance for the appointment due to conflicting scheduling with a Plover Plan Commission meeting, also held on Sept. 30.
Mayor Mike Wiza noted that he is excited for Kernosky to join the city’s cabinet. “It was a team effort, and clearly Mr. Kernosky rose to the top,” Wiza said about the candidate selection process.
