PLOVER – Village leaders approved a 10-year solid waste and recycling service contract renewal with Advanced Disposal at a board meeting on Oct. 2.
Village Administrator Dan Mahoney said that the new contract will come with some new equipment for residents.
“There will be no changes for village residents,” Mahoney said. “Each residential property owner will be provided a 95-gallon container for garbage and a 95-gallon container for recycling materials for when the new service starts in January. Advanced Disposal will provide the containers at no cost to the village or village residents.”
Mahoney added that some of the refuse bins could be dispersed before January. Residents who have purchased their refuse containers will be allowed to keep them.
Officials noted that the only significant difference in operations is a new weekly recycling pickup schedule.
Some route changes could also come to Plover’s refuse disposal process. “There may be some minor route changes that occur; however, all village residents will be sent materials by Advanced Disposal on routes and pick up days. The village will also use its website and possibly its utility billing process to help remind village residents to review their pickup schedules to see if any change has occurred.”
The village will pay $11.86 per unit/household per month for the services.
Each residence receives a trash and recycling container.
The new contract will officially take effect on Jan. 1.
