Portage County Library to host author festival

For the City Times
STEVENS POINT – The Portage County Public Library will host their first Fall Author Festival on Nov. 2, at 1001 Main St., Stevens Point.
Nine Wisconsin novelists, including seven from Portage County, will present their work 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Attendees can stay for one, several, or all of the authors’ presentations. Each author will provide a unique perspective on the writing process and introduce you to characters and settings.
“We want to connect with and support authors in our local community,” said Public Services Librarian Eddie Glade. “There’s a lot of talent right here in our county. A number of local authors have contacted us over the last few years, but we haven’t had a good way to connect them to readers. By bringing them all together on one day, we’re giving the community the opportunity to discover multiple new authors all at once.”
The day’s lineup includes novelists who write almost every genre – historical, real-life drama, mystery, romance, and thriller. Scheduled authors include: Gary Chriske, Elizabeth Felt, John Currier, Bob Rutta, Lor E. Lynn, Joy Ribar, Hannah Klumb, Robert Ullrich, and Marc Thwaits.
The authors will have copies of their books available for purchase. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day. The authors all write for adults, so families should plan accordingly.
