STEVENS POINT – City officials held a discussion on Division Street and downtown area master plans at a joint meeting on Oct. 8.
Members of the city’s redevelopment authority, plan commission, and common council were in attendance.
The discussion followed a presentation on the master plans by Vandewalle & Associates. Vandewalle is spearheading the design process in tandem with city leaders.
“They are very distinct areas,” said Brian Munson, Vandewalle Principal Urban Designer. “We separated these intentionally. Because, what would work in Division Street may not work in downtown. They serve different functions in the community.”
Plans and public discussion on corridor changes have been held since late 2018. Public input significantly shaped the plans, according to Vandewalle staff.
Munson noted that the designs are currently just a “vision,” and that they can change and be amended as developments progress. No official action was carried during the meeting.
